Huckabee’s joke is no less than a veiled call for violence to Obama

Shame on Mike Huckabee. This coming from a “Christian Minister.” Obviously he doesn’t believe in karma, but maybe he’ll start to when he feels the repercussions.

HUCKABEE QUIPS ABOUT GUN AIMED AT OBAMA DURING SPEECH TO NRA CONVENTION

Last update: May 16, 2008 - 5:01 PM

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Republican Mike Huckabee responded to an offstage noise during his speech to the National Rifle Association by suggesting it was Barack Obama diving to the floor because someone had aimed a gun at him.

Hearing a loud noise and interrupting his speech, Huckabee said: “That was Barack Obama. He just tripped off a chair. He’s getting ready to speak and somebody aimed a gun at him and he — he dove for the floor.”

There were only a few murmurs in the crowd after the remark.

The Obama campaign had no comment.

(End).

UPDATE: Five hours after making the comments, Huckabee issued the following “apology”:

“During my speech at the N.R.A., a loud noise backstage, that sounded like a chair falling, distracted the crowd and interrupted my speech. I made an off hand remark that was in no way intended to offend or disparage Sen. Obama. I apologize that my comments were offensive. That was never my intention.”

Well Mike, as they say, you can’t un-ring a bell. And you can’t put the bullet back in the gun. Not your intention to offend? As a “minister”, someone who has preached in front of others, you are more than well aware of the power of the word. You are aware of the gateway between thought and speech. This is not the first time you lacked the restraint to keep that gateway closed. Sorry, but apology not accepted. You never should have uttered it in the first place. - Bruce
