McCain said he would never run a smear campaign, yet all he seems to do is attack Obama with slander and lies.
The McCain camp is already using an out-of-context quote by Obama as a weapon, trying to paint Obama as self-aggrandizing.
Unfortunately, he seems to be getting an assist from a Democrat.
The Washington Post reported that Obama met in a closed door session with House Democrats Tuesday night, in which he talked about his recent trip abroad.
There’s no actual tape of the event, but one Dem quoted Obama as saying, “I have become a symbol of the possibility of America returning to our best traditions,” and wondered whether this was all ego.
However, today House leadership aides pushed back against interpretations of this comment, saying Obama was actually trying to deflect attention from himself.
What Obama actually said was, “It has become increasingly clear in my travel, the campaign — that the crowds, the enthusiasm, 200,000 people in Berlin, is not about me at all. It’s about America. I have just become a symbol.”
So what was a statement about hope, that reflected humility, is now being used to attack him, to show he has a self-inflated ego.
Listen, I’m the first to admit ANYONE running for President has a lot of ego, McCain and Hillary included. But to actually use what Obama said in the exact opposite way it was meant, is slander.
And shame on the House Dem, whoever he or she is, who started spreading this. I don’t know what that person’s motivation is. Does this person really feel they need to undermine Obama’s candidacy to give McCain a boost? Do they really want to see McCain elected and give us more of Bush’s failed policy? Does this person not think this country has already sunk low enough?
And shame on McCain for allowing his advisors to hit the airwaves to spread propaganda and slander. I used to have some respect for McCain. That’s long gone. He has shown in recent days how despicable he can be. Even Andrea Mitchell called one of his ads an outright lie.
Recently Bush Sr. admitted he was a little jealous of the attention and crowds Obama was attracting in Europe. He said this it seems on behalf of McCain as well, with whom he was standing-side-by-side.
Well, McCain, it’s fine if you are a little jealous. But then find your own way to give American hope, without degrading your opponent’s. You should listen to the members of your own party who are voicing that they are not happy with your negative campaign.

Obama’s camp was upset when McCain said he’d(McCain) rather lose an election than a war and that Obama would rather lose a war to win an election (paraphrasing)….. but in the VP debate Biden actually called McCain unpatriotic while using bait and switch techniques when refering to various votes. If I’d been there with a handful of cow manure, I would have been happy to practice my cow chip throwing technique.

Well cicero, I guess most of them you’d have to sling at Palin for her lies. But she’s so full of sh*t, it wouldn’t matter would it?
Biden was not painting McCain as unpatriotic; he was calling out Palin on her lies and trying to set America straight on McCain’s voting record. Sorry if that hurt your feelings.
McCain and Palin have done nothing but lie and smear this entire campaign. Personally, if the Dems do it at all, then I say go for it. Because enough is enough. It’s time to fight back for all the vile filth of the Republican attack machine.
It’s time we take this country back from the unethical Bush/Cheney McCain/Palins.
I wish the Dems would play dirty. Sometimes you have to fight back in the same way.
