They claim Obama is trying to paint himself as a Greek god. What’s so funny is that the Republicans just did the same thing recently. Ooops.
Post from Lydia Lindsey’s Blog:
There is a misread on the columns in Invesco field. The columns are not associated with the Greek gods. The gods come down from mountains on high. This SPIN is WRONG! The columns are identified with the birth place of western democracy. The columns are identified with the Republic– the common good! Plato’s Republic and how government can serve the people. How government can work for the welfare of the people. Obama is trying to restore the Republic after the long nightmare of the imperial presidency.
What should be said that it looks like a Greek agora, forum, the public square rather than a Greek temple! The forum is the bastion of democracy!
(Well no wonder the Republicans are confused. “Democracy” is not part of their vocabulary.)
From ThinkProgress:
2008 Virginia Republican Convention Featured Stage With Greek Columns
Reuters reports that Barack Obama will deliver his Thursday night acceptance speech before an “elaborate columned stage resembling a miniature Greek temple”:
Conservatives are mocking the stage as a “temple of Obama.” Ed Morrissey writes, “That this scales heights of presumptuousness can hardly be refuted.” One anonymous McCain adviser quipped, “Is this from the Onion?” No, but it may be inspired by the stage at the 2008 Virginia Republican Convention:
Watch some video highlights of Virginia conservatives presumptuously speaking before Greek columns:
Former Sen. George Allen delivered the keynote before the Greek columns. Watch here and here.

These Republicans should just keep their mouths shut because every time they open them, they say something stupid.

It’s called desperation.
And finally it’s over with the PUMAs after the roll call. They’re declaring once and for all that they’re all running over to McCain. Good riddance. And to think so many of them spent so much time and money running to Denver as if they were going to change things. Or convince Hillary to. Delusion.

The PUMAs have taken their masks off and showed us their real faces – scary looking McCainites. They never really supported Clinton. It was a swiftboat ploy by Republicans thinking that they could divide the Democratic Party and they lost.
Last night, my husband told me that he remembers watching the ‘68 Convention and he said that the divide in the party was very evident. He said that this years Convention was anything like that. The Democrats showed unity. The press says the opposite. The press says that the Republicans are unified. The press is wrong.

And thank god for C-SPAN where we can watch the Convention without the dumb-f**ks spinning lies about what is really taking place. These media fools just don’t get it. To see Scarborough going off on his co-workers just shows that the Republicans are scared.

Cats, you are so right. The Dems have been far more divided in the past. There are always going to be factions of fringe lunatics.
And you are so right about the media. They just want drama and they create it themselves. And Joe Scarborough really seems to have lost his mind lately.

Poor Morning Joe has been off the chain this week. He takes offense when David Shuster calls him out and tries to turn it on him. Joe has a very clear agenda and that is why Pat Buchanan is a panelist so often. Their mission is to mock and destroy and they will destroy anyone (Shuster) who gets in their way or exposes them. http://www.ebonymompolitics.wordpress.com
