Wasilla woman tells everything you want to know about Palin but were afraid to ask

This account comes from a Wasilla, AK housewife-and-mother who has known Palin for years. She provides all the insight on Palin, and details of her governing first as a mayor and then governor. An insider’s perspective:

During her mayoral administration most of the actual work of running this small city was turned over to an administrator. She had been pushed to hire this administrator by party power-brokers after she had gotten herself into some trouble over precipitous firings which had given rise to a recall campaign.

Sarah campaigned in Wasilla as a “fiscal conservative”. During her 6 years as Mayor, she increased general government expenditures by over 33%. During those same 6 years the amount of taxes collected by the City increased by 38%. This was during a period of low inflation (1996-2002). She reduced progressive property taxes and increased a regressive sales tax which taxed even food. The tax cuts that she promoted benefited large corporate property owners more than they benefited residents.

She inherited a city with zero debt, but left it with indebtedness of over $22 million.

This is only the beginning. It gets even better:

  • Not exactly a great executive, is she? McCain better not talk about experience anymore.

  • They say Palin’s daughter is a private family matter and shouldn’t be covered… Then why the heck should there be national abstinence programs or laws on abortions?

Then why even bring her family into the campaign as a ‘family values’ talking point? They want their cake and eat it, too. “Look! My son is in the military! Look! We’re a family! Oh, no, You’re not allowed to rebut this with any negative points. That’s a low-blow.”

Her family goes to the very core of her flaws in leadership. No birth control results in having a kid… at 44 years old… which turns out to have Down’s Syndrome (which is related to the age of the mother). There are reasons why 44 year old women either use protection or get themselves or their partner sterilized.

Abstinence education (plus no birth control) is directly tied into her own daughter getting pregnant at 17 years old and out of wedlock.
Her questionable judgement has put her entire family at risk, and she wants to see her judgement exported at a national level.

No. Her family is almost a banner case against her own policies.

  • bertox, these are such good points you raise.

will Palin be for sex education programs in the schools? doubtful.

and do they not have condoms in Alaska? i mean seriously. or is that against her belief system?

Palin’s judgment should be rejected by all voters and all women.

  • Here’s a post how Palin said she would not support sex-education in her state:

Guess she regrets that now given her daughter’s situation.

  • Bruce, thanks for the link.

If the GOP wasn’t so stubborn, she’d be gone before he speech this evening. Intrade is placing odds.
    She’s toast.

  • Thanks for the link love Bruce. We’ll see what she has to say tonight, but come November I’m very confident we’re going to look back on this choice as the one that really killed McCain’s chances of being elected.
