Palin takes a couple of snarky jabs at Biden, including one about his age! Does she REALLY want to play the age card? Here’s what I think Biden should say in return

UPDATE: Afterwards Katie Couric asked Snark Palin if she really wants to make such a comment given McCain’s age. And with a straight face Palin said this was NOT a swipe at Biden’s age. She actually said there was nothing negative behind it. (B*tch). She was merely contrasting his experience with her fresh new face and new ideas so voters have a choice what they want for the next 4 years. (A Republican who smears your opponent, then denies it. And is clueless about the economy and foreign policy. Will someone tell me exactly how that’s new and different from the guy who’s been running things for 8 years?)

ORIGINAL POST:

Yesterday at a rally, Sarah Palin said about the upcoming debate with Joe Biden:

“I’m looking forward to meeting him, too,’’ she said. “I’ve never met him before, but I’ve been hearing about his Senate speeches since I was in, like, second grade.’’

It got a big laugh. Even from Cindy McCain standing behind her.

Does Sarah REALLY want to play the age card? When her man is older AND the head of the ticket? AND has had repeated bouts with malignant melanoma? AND refuses to release his medical records to he public?

In turn, I think Biden should say:

“Well, Palin probably doesn’t remember when she was about 5 years old how McCain screwed around on his first wife and dumped her because she had lost her beauty pageant looks. Hopefully Sarah won’t lose hers in the next five weeks.”

After her crack about Biden’s age, Palin then took ANOTHER jab at him:

“I have to admit, though, he’s a great debater, and he looks pretty doggone confident, like he’s sure he’s going to win,’’ Ms. Palin, 44, said of Mr. Biden, 65. “But then again, this is the same Senator Biden who said the other day that University of Delaware would trounce the Ohio State Buckeyes. Wrong!”

I think Biden should respond in turn:

“At least I’m smarter than a second-grader.”

But he has far more class than she does to engage in such lowball comments.

But I like what Fareed Zakaria had to say about Palin when being interviewed by Wolf Blitzer:

“…It’s not that she doesn’t know the right answer. It’s that she clearly does not understand the question. This is way beyond anything we have ever seen from a national candidate.”

And in his Newsweek article he wrote:

“Can we now admit the obvious? Sarah Palin is utterly unqualified to be vice president… she has never spent a day thinking about any important national or international issue, and this is a hell of a time to start… In these times, for John McCain to have chosen this person to be his running mate is fundamentally irresponsible. McCain says that he always puts country first. In this important case, it is simply not true.”

Isn’t that Bristol standing behind Sarah? Wonder who’s takin’ care of li’l Trig? Oh yeah, probably Piper or Willow.

  • You’re spot on, as usual, Bruce. Palin is good with a script. She gives a good speech. Thursday night will be interesting, to say the least.

  • Actually she isn’t even half decent with a script. She’s lame – totally lame. There is no comprehension and every time she drops her g’s, I want to smack her.

    She is so pathetic.

Twig is with Twerp and Twitter….

  • Bruce,

I totally agree w/your comments about Palin’s ignorance, lack of political sophistication, and right-wing ideology. However, I equally disagree w/ your sexist and backward comment re: her child-care duties. Now honestly, would you have made the same inquiry if Todd Palin was the V.P. candidate? After all, in this case he may well have been the one taking care of li’l Trig. And why not? He is the f#*^g father, isn’t he?

  • Sometimes I think that one day I’ll wake up and Sarah Palin would have been just another humorous dream.

  • Grace, all my liberal women friends have voiced this a lot stronger than I have. So call them sexist too. And some of them are career women with families.

I think it’s irresponsible for a new mother to try to take on such an enormous role of Vice-Presidential candidate that is going to propel her into such a schedule that she does not have sufficient time to give to a small baby. I’m sorry, but at that age, the mother should be the primary caregiver when it comes to feeding and care. I’m not saying the father shouldn’t have his responsibilities, and he certainly can give that baby a lot of time, but over a week ago she and Todd were traveling together WITHOUT the children?

(btw, I spoke with 2 young women this week from Alaska who said being Governor is not very hard nor rigorous. In that context I could understand her handling all this when she’s mostly in an office all day where she can have a nanny or babysitter with her to help with the newborn. Unless of course she doesn’t breast feed and it doesn’t matter to her.)

I’m all for women to be able to do it all, but again, how responsible is this of her to take on this overwhelming role that she is obviously completely unprepared for? Apparently they’re spending most of the time behind-the-scenes trying to stuff information in her head.

And listen, if Palin as a new mother with a pregnant teen and two other young children were a Democrat I’d say the same thing. And my Democratic women friends are saying it to me with fervor.

And yes, I took a shot at her because she’s a snarky b*tch who deserves it. After the rally she even tried to pretend she wasn’t taking shots at him. Give me a fucking break. And her RNC acceptance speech was total condescension. And if the Demcratic leadership can’t hit back at her, then I’m happy to help.

I’m all for equal pay and a woman’s right to choose. Palin isn’t. So who’s the real sexist?

  • Biden doesn’t need to say anything he should just let her talk and stand there and look stupid.

  • I heard there’s more Katie Couric interview we may never see. Apparently CBS agreed to quash it in exchange for McCain and Palin to keep giving them exclusives.

It’s of Palin not being able to name ONE Supreme Court case besides Roe v Wade. (Don’t you find it a tad ironic that’s the only case she knows?)

  • I can’t stand to hear her speak. She has poor English skills and often sounds like a “Valley Girl”, you know, like, a “Valley Girl”. That type of speaking might be cute in Alaska but it is offensive to hear in a national politician. Sarah could benefit from “charm school”.

Is that Bristol behind her? Is she pregnant? She doesn’t look pregnant. Her waist is thin and that thick belt just doesn’t look like something a pregnant woman would wear. When is this baby due?

  • The sad thing about Palin is she is NOT curious and she is undereducated.

  • Wait, did anyone else noticed that in the video around 50 seconds, some guy yells out “GROW UP SARAH”….cool 8-)

  • I think he actually yells out, “You tell him Sarah”.

    But I like yours better.

  • Damn…never mind then :-( Well, Palin still needs to grow up, I hope she bring up that Ohio line during the debate.

  • “Is that Bristol behind her? Is she pregnant? She doesn’t look pregnant. Her waist is thin and that thick belt just doesn’t look like something a pregnant woman would wear. When is this baby due?”

Cat, I believe that was Willow.

  • Well then, I feel much better.

  • I hate her voice – it’s shrill and it comes from her nose and she drops her “g’s” …
she sounds like an uneducated hick. She may be a great hockey mom – maybe she should return to Alaska to spend more time with her pregnant 17 year old that she’s exploiting???

  • You’d think for the fact she obviously is completely over her head on all the issues, she’d at least show some grace and humility. It’s true what they said in the SNL – when backed in a corner she becomes increasingly adorable. Cutsie defensive behavior. Sorry, it doesn’t wash.

  • She sounds like a waitress in a dive diner. From Canada.

  • Don’t denigrate Canadians. I’m sure they hate Palin.

  • Grace: I am a liberal democratic working woman with 2 children.

In regard to your accusations that Bruce’s comment about Bristol was sexist. Let’s get real for a minute.

This woman has exploited her children, her status as a “hockey mom”, daughter’s pregnancy…all for her own benefit. (Do you have any idea how unhealthy it was for her baby to be brought into the Republican Convention stadium? Do you have any idea how bad that noise level is for a baby’s ears? It could cause permanant damage!!!)

And if she didn’t want to “shore up” curiosity about Bristol’s life & pregnancy, she should not have put her family front and center at the RNC convention, and every appearance since then.

Palin has made her Momminess one of the pillars of her campaign. It’s a part of every stump. She is asking to be trusted enough to be placed 1 heartbeat away from being leader of the free world. Everything she says and does is fair game.
    EVERYTHING.

  • Amma – you rest our case! Thank you.

It’s not us that is exploiting SP – it’s HER and Johnny McMelanoma.

Everything about this hick is up for grabs – because she is simply one more metastases away from the Presidency when McMelanoma drops dead (I know someone has done his actuarials based upon his age and his 4X melanoma occurrence and it isn’t pretty).

She’s a legitimate (?) candidate for the office of Veep – sorry, fair game is right. This country has a right to decide. By the way, it seems she isn’t as upright as she claims….her “friend” on the witness stand currently just flipped while under oath and testified that she did deny benefits under pressure from Sarah and TODD..(why is he always there???)

    Oopsy daisy.

I’ll bet Alaska is so proud.

  • How about the way women’s groups in Pakistan went berserk after the way their new guy drooled over her dumb ass ? This chick is a train wreck to Nowhere and the idea that she will appeal to women disillusioned by Hillary’s exit is an insult to their integrity too. I hope she gets all of her snarks in before Thursday because Biden is going to spank her ass like she’s still a second grader once the mics are turned on.

  • By the way Grace, if Todd really is taking care of that baby…between his DUI, shady business career & central role in TrooperGate, that’s really not a great defense…In fact, someone should call Social Services!

  • I can’t stand listening to her.
