Oh Joe, say all this ain’t so!
Posted by Basheert from Crooks and Liars
I guess it’s no wonder John McCain was so happy to use “Joe the Plumber” as a debate prop last night — he’s a partisan Republican who also happens to be a member of McCain’s old friends, the Keating family.
From Martin Eisenstadt:
Turns out that Joe Wurzelbacher from the Toledo event is a close relative of Robert Wurzelbacher of Milford, Ohio. Who’s Robert Wurzelbacher? Only Charles Keating’s son-in-law and the former senior vice president of American Continental, the parent company of the infamous Lincoln Savings and Loan. The now retired elder Wurzelbacher is also a major contributor to Republican causes giving well over $10,000 in the last few years.
Now I guess we know why Joe is telling the press that Obama is a “socialist” and that the Obama tax plan “infuriated” him. After all, it would hit families like the Keatings and their minions the hardest.
Not to mention that Obama’s economic-recovery plan would put the crimps on influence peddlers like McCain’s old friends, the Keating Five.
But he sure made for a good one-day story.
UPDATES:
From Jonathan Martin at Politico:
Joe the Plumber really is no fan of paying taxes.
According to records from the Lucas County (OH) Court of Common Pleas found by my colleague Avi Zenilman, Samuel J. Wurzelbacher has a lien placed against him to the tune of $1,182.92.
The lien is dated from January of ‘07.
And from Ben Smith at Politico:
Two readers with access to the Ohio voter file say that Joe Wurzelbacher’s inluence on this cycle will be limited in one way: He doesn’t appear to be registered to vote.

Holy scandalous incest ties, Batman! McNasty unmasked yet again!
It figures there would be a bigger story to this that would backfire on McNasty.
(Just can’t get away from that Keating thing, can he?)

No he can’t … rightly so.
Every day I drive past the “new” and “under construction” Silver State Bank here in Phoenix…and of course, it went bust. His son was on the Board…
blood will tell…

So much for him caring about paying higher taxes. He doesn’t even pay his taxes, so whats the point of him caring about taxes in the first place. I think McCain just made Joe’s life even worse. Ever since he made Joe a big deal, Joe has been on blast.
Also, the fact that he doesn’t even have a plumbing business yet is ridiculous for anyone to be even talking about him. But, Im sure McCain-Palin doesn’t care about Joe’s record and now public scrutiny, they just want to use him so they can win.

When I saw the Couric interview with Joe the Plumber (if that’s his real name) I told a friend that Joe was a McCain shill.
I think it’s hilarious that he never registered to vote.

Boy that went well didn’t it?
Evidently he IS a registered Republican but his name is spelled wrong….so I’m guessing he will be challenged by poll watchers when he goes to vote in good old O-Hi-O

They probably won’t even let him vote. LOL!
